never.no is proud to have helped WBTV promote PurpleStride 2016 in Charlotte, NC and activate their social audience to become community journalists.
PurpleStride Charlotte, an annual local fundraiser, is part of a national campaign by the Pancreatic Cancer Network supporting pancreatic cancer research and awareness. This year's event was sponsored by WBTV and hosted by WBTV news anchor Maureen O’Boyle.
To promote the event, the WBTV marketing and news teams created a 15 second "Breaking News Update" to feature social video reports submitted from PurpleStride Charlotte attendees. On the morning of the event the network requested videos from their active and engaged followers via social media and on-location solicitation. never.no's web-based engagement platform STORY was used to collect and moderate all the video reports then render fresh 'Breaking News Updates' instantly in the cloud for distribution on Twitter and WBTVs online news roll.
The event raised over $353,578, exceeding the target goal by over $37,000.
