Client: Viacom UK
Project: True Love or True Lies
never.no partnered with Viacom UK to facilitate live audience voting and dynamic show bumper rendering during MTV’s new show ‘True Love or True Lies’.
In a ground-breaking move, never.no facilitated the updating of show bumpers to include live poll results from social media minutes before they were due to air. The innovative project gave audiences the opportunity to engage with each episode, sharing their opinion with others and seeing the results just before the actual show results were revealed.
The new MTV format sees six couples compete to prove whose relationship is best, however there are liars amongst them who aren’t together at all. While the show contestants try to figure out who is telling the truth and who is lying, the at-home audience are also doing the same on social media. Viewers share their opinion on each couple using Twitter polls to vote on whether the relationship is real or fake.
MTV use never.no’s audience engagement platform STORY to gather the live poll results for each couple during the show and then to render an updated bumper and have it delivered for playout minutes later. The on-air bumper template was created in-house in advance and configured to ingest dynamic content enabling it to update on the fly. Using STORY to render refreshed video clips means that elements such as poll results can be integrated into the creative and videos generated in minutes, right before they’re due to air, but also giving the audience a visual update of their social engagement on the linear screen live.
