Visualmedia aims to go beyond the current state of technology by integrating real-time user-generated social content with 3D graphics for the broadcast industry
The agreement for the 2 year project was signed in Madrid during a 2 day technical kick-off meeting with the international consortium of companies and institutions involved.
never.no is one of twelve European organizations that prepared and submitted to the 2015 call for the Horizon 2020 with the project ‘Immersive and Interactive Real Time 3D Social Media Graphics Environments for the Broadcast Industry’ known as Visualmedia. The project has the aim of improving and strengthening the integration of social networking technologies in the broadcast industry to facilitate greater participation of the audience in live programming.
The resulting system will give people the opportunity to take part in discussions, participate with pictures, videos and messages and enter competitions. All user-generated content will be presented with 3D graphics in a virtual TV-studio.
Those involved in the consortium include Brainstorm, RTVE, never.no, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Bayerischer Rundfunk, University of Surrey, Signum Bildtechnik GmbH, Hallingdølen, The Institut für Rundfunktechnik, Setanta Sports, Genikes Radiotileoptikes Epixeiriseis and Romanian Television
