Streaming Media Europe

James Neufeld, never.no product specialist, will be among the experts addressing the technology and business implications of media convergence on multiple screens at the Streaming Media Europe conference in London. The conference is set to take place on Oct. 15 and 16. Streaming Media Europe covers the business of online video, and the technology of streaming, video on demand, Webcasting, IPTV, and mobile.

Neufeld will join a panel discussion titled “Reaching Multiple Screen Convergence: Streaming to the PC, Mobile, Television, and Gaming Devices.” Also participating in the discussion moderated by Martin Sutherland of Vantrix are Pierre-Yves Le Berre of Anevia, Andrew Parker of ExtendMedia Corporation, and Jim Taylor of Sonic Solutions International Digital Media Alliance (IDMA).

A 10-year-old company based in Oslo, never.no is the developer of a sophisticated interactive video platform that enables modification of the video stream based on live, user-submitted content. never.no’s Community TV product — short-listed for the 2009 Streaming Media European Readers’ Choice Awards — leverages that platform to provide an end-to-end solution for ingest, automation, and playout of user-provided or broadcast content. Deploying it, an aspiring or established broadcaster can dramatically reduce investment in infrastructure as well as ongoing operational costs over those required by traditional broadcast methods.

Recruited by never.no, Neufeld left his native Canada after a successful stint as head of interactive broadcasting for a dynamic young multimedia organization. He began his broadcast career at the age of 13 when he helped build a radio network based in Bolivia.

Through a range of intensive conference sessions, workshops, seminars, and exhibits that showcase the best of what’s happening in the online video and content industries, Streaming Media Europe is a resource for corporate and consumer business, technology, and content issues in the enterprise, advertising, media and entertainment, broadcast, and education markets.

Neufeld’s talk will take place at 16:00 Thursday, Oct. 15. The conference location is the Novotel London West, One Shortlands, in central London.
