Channel 5’s new season of Talking Point to increase real-time viewer interaction via multiple social channels
Singapore’s MediaCorp adopts never.no’s social content aggregator platform STORY for flagship current affairs show
Singapore’s live English current affairs TV talk show Talking Point, which uses social content aggregator services to enhance its viewer participation, utilises the latest version of never.no’s Social TV platform STORY.
Talking Point is a weekly topical news programme, broadcast every Tuesday night, which specialises in debating ‘the hottest issues affecting Singaporeans’ with guests in the studio drawn from interest groups, politics, academia and members of the general public.
A key element of the show’s success, hosted by anchor Steven Chia, is the high level of audience interaction via call-ins, texts and emails.
By utilising the multi-channel and instant social monitoring capacity of never.no’s STORY 1.6 social content application views and opinions can be easily incorporated into the show’s studio debates from across the entire social media landscape. This means that snap polls, graphs, comment captions, and other types of viewer sentiment mapping and audience opinion can be quickly and seamlessly worked into Talking Point’s programme narrative in real-time.
Yvonne Lim, Talking Point’s Executive Producer, said:
“Using a new social TV platform enables us even greater control of gathering, managing and publishing social content on air. Social is a key element of Talking Point, driving the show’s content and discussions. Allowing viewers to have their voices heard greatly enhances the show by providing insights into what topics are important and popular amongst Singaporeans.”
Scott Davies, CEO of never.no, said:
“We are excited to be working with such a dedicated and forward-thinking team at MediaCorp and are greatly looking forward to exploring the immense possibilities STORY will bring to a fast moving, topical and feisty live show like Talking Point.
“STORY is a constantly evolving platform for content discovery, curation, and publishing, and included with the latest version are many new features which Talking Point will be utilising.
“This includes the aggregation of all social content in a single incoming stream which can be then be represented visually in a quick and easy to read format.
“This will help Yvonne and her production team identify what terms and topics are most popular amongst their viewers in an instant and directly insert this sentiment into the show via graphics, polls and other impactful visual mediums.”
