Big Brother

TVNorge used SMS chat for the nightly reruns of Big Brother in 2005. After a very successful season, they added on private chat and participant morphing for the 2006 season. Viewers participated through their mobile phone and could access several services.

The viewers texted BBNICK and their nickname to a four digit number to register their nickname. Once registered, they could chat privately with other users using the BBPRIV nickname command. BBPRIV STOP would prevent other users from being able to chat with you privately. BBCHAT was the keyword for on-screen chat, and BBMORPH the MMS keyword for morphing. The morphing service not only created a morph to be put on screen with the moderator’s comments, but also returned the morph back as a mobile phone screensaver, regardless of the moderator’s verdict.

SMS messages was charged NOK 10 (€1.15) and MMS messages was charged NOK 15 (€1.72).
